ABOUT THIS UNIT
The Herbal and Alternate Medicine Unit started in September, 2012 with a staff strength of two permanent Herbal Medical Practitioners and a national service personnel.
The idea began as a presidential initiative in 2008 to create a unit in the mainstream healthcare delivery system with qualified professionals to provide safe and efficacious herbal- based medicines to Ghanaians who takes herbs / plants or part of plants as food or medicine in any form, and also, to redirect herb lovers from quack or untrained herbalist to scientifically trained professionals who are skilled in clinical training and pharmacognosy (study of medicine obtained from plants)
We provide counselling in food -food interactions, herb- drug interactions and herb- herb interactions.
We have high successes in the treatment / management of: Malaria, Anemia, Recurrent Enteric Fever, Asthma, Anal Prolapse, Arthritis, Peripheral Neuropathy, Enuresis, Infertility in Women and Erectile Dysfunction
